The Lincoln and Edmunds Buildings

When completed during the academic year 2006-07, the new Lincoln Building and Edmunds Building at Pomona College will house classrooms, teaching and research laboratories and faculty offices for a variety of academic departments. Comprising a total of 92,300 square feet of space, the two structures will also qualify for LEED Silver ratings. The Hathaway Dinwiddie Sustainable Team is playing a key role in helping the college gain this certification, particularly in the area of indoor air quality. Under the direction of Bruce Arnold, the Hathaway Dinwiddie team is conducting a comprehensive indoor air quality (IAQ) management plan that will earn LEED credit points for the following:
Increased Ventilation
Providing additional outdoor air ventilation to improve indoor air quality for improved occupant comfort, well-being and productivity.
Construction IAQ Management Plan, During Construction & Before Occupancy
Reducing indoor air quality problems resulting from the construction/renovation process in order to help sustain the comfort and well-being of construction workers and building occupants.
Low-Emitting Materials: Adhesives & Sealants, Paints & Coatings, Carpets, etc.
Reducing the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, irritating or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants.
Indoor Chemical & Pollutant Source Control
Minimizing exposure of building occupants to potentially hazardous particulates and chemical pollutants.
